No. Tabby runs as a lightweight service worker with zero impact on page load times. The side panel only renders when you open it.
Is my data private?
Yes. All data stays in your browser. Form state detection is used only to warn you about unsaved work — it is never stored or transmitted.
Is Tabby free?
Completely free. Gemini Nano (on-device AI) requires no API key and no account. Optional cloud providers may require their own API keys.
Do I need an API key?
No. Tabby works fully offline using Gemini Nano or heuristic-based grouping. API keys are only needed if you want to use a specific cloud AI provider. You can also connect your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint (like Ollama) without any API key.
Can I sync across devices?
Saved groups sync via Chrome's built-in bookmark sync. Session history and settings are stored locally per device.
